Job Details

As a Soldering Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing assembly support for our Operations department and supporting the new product introduction (NPI) process. This position requires expertise in raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other techniques essential for optimizing the manufacturing and distribution of goods. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks, including packing, assembly, prep, build line operation, testing, selective soldering, post-wave inspection, SMT setup, and Auto Set-Up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned manufacturing functions under general supervision, ensuring adherence to production cost objectives and quality standards.
  • Prepare all components based on production aids and/or other necessary instructions.
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems and related structures, install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, soldering, and micro-welding equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic components to correct defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Install hardware on boards, tape, mask, and install components, ensuring proper quality after each process step as indicated by production aids and work instructions.
  • Set up each kit for a given build line, including tasks like pulling KanBan parts, refilling bins on the build line, and requisitioning parts to fill shortages.
  • Check for proper solder quality and complete any necessary repairs.
  • Inspect and test products throughout the manufacturing process to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, managers, production supervisors, and leads to plan and review work activities and resolve NPI process-related issues.
  • Assist in routine root cause analysis and troubleshooting on the production line to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Two to five years of experience in mechanical or electronic assembly.
Any combination of education and experience will be considered.
Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Proficiency in using standard office equipment and familiarity with common software applications.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lean Six Sigma trained.
  • IPC Certification.
  • One-plus years of experience in surface mount technology soldering or hand soldering.
  • Experience in the Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry, with an emphasis on supporting offshore manufacturing facilities.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects, talk, hear, and see.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms as needed.
  • Fast-paced, time-pressured environment requiring accuracy.
  • Multi-tasking between projects, moving throughout the office building and production area, and effective communication.
  • Moderately loud working environment, with occasional louder areas.
