Job Details
Our client in Little Rock, AR, is seeking a Cutting / Forming Department Lead to manage and oversee the daily operations of the Cutting and Forming Department. This role is responsible for ensuring quality control, maintaining production standards, and leading a team of Laser, Brake, and Shear Operators to produce high-quality products with minimal rejection rates. The Department Lead will take a hands-on approach, working alongside team members to meet daily goals while performing leadership duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production schedules to allocate resources effectively and plan daily workflow.
- Assign tasks to Laser, Shear, and Press Brake operators to ensure on-time production.
- Monitor employee tasks for safety, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain seamless production and workflow.
- Recommend and implement efficiency improvements across departments.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Inspect tools and machinery for wear and address maintenance needs promptly.
- Conduct quality inspections at critical production stages.
- Maintain detailed records of production, scrap reports, and material usage.
- Communicate quality issues to management and implement corrective actions.
- Train employees on safety procedures, equipment use, and production techniques.
- Document employee progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere to boost morale and productivity.
- Cross-train employees to prepare them for leadership roles and skill enhancement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage employee relations effectively.
- Approve timesheets and PTO requests while monitoring attendance and punctuality.
- Collaborate with management to resolve employee concerns and promote a harmonious work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and task prioritization skills.
- Thorough understanding of production processes, particularly in Laser, Shear, and Press Brake operations.
- Ability to motivate and mentor team members to achieve optimal performance.
- Expertise in quality assurance, shop math, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- High school diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 2-3 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, or fabrication.
- Proficiency with Amada CNC Laser, Amada Brake Presses, and Shear Machines.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 65 lbs. frequently.
- Frequent bending, squatting, and standing for up to 10 hours per day.
- Comfortable working in a 40°-100° F industrial environment with appropriate protective gear.
